Who We Work With
Otori Art & Design Advisory’s main goal is to make high quality Japanese fine art accessible to as many people as possible. Our acquisition solutions are primarily tailored to private collectors and designers, although we also work with galleries and corporate spaces. We especially enjoy working with new collectors looking to build a strong portfolio of unique works.
How Our System Works
Our goal is to ensure that each work sold is representative of the prowess of the artist and that it also fits the specific interest of our client. To ensure the quality of each piece, our director frequently travels to Japan to visit our artists’ studios. While we are not in Japan, we stay in close contact with each artist, ensuring nothing is lost in translation. This ensures our clients have the most direct and exclusive access to the best works.
We understand that Japan is not an easily accessible country for most, let alone the Japanese art scene. In this regard, we strive to ensure each step, from curating artists to the purchasing and reception of a work, is thoroughly outlined to each client.
Outside of curation, Otori Art & Design Advisory offers to assist our clients with the shipping and handling of works. We understand that international shipping is a complicated experience and strive to make the process as affordable and seamless as possible.
Lastly, if a client has an interest in artists beyond our scope, we are happy to facilitate the purchasing of works. Our director Tristan Madden takes pride in personally attending fairs, visiting studios, and contacting galleries in Japan on our collectors’ behalf.

Through our detailed research, and years of experience working with artists, we have cultivated a select group of talented artists. We aim to assist in selling these artists' works and assisting them in placement to fairs, galleries and museums. We are always looking for new Japanese art talent to share with our enthusiastic clients.

Each work has a value, one of the most important parts of our job is to find the correct one. With our years of experience we aim to properly appraise work in our clients collection and or works that are poised for acquisition. We will always attempt to realize the most accurate price for our clients, whether that be from auctions, galleries, or directly from the artists’ studio.
