Our Story

Tristan Madden, our founder, started Otori Art & Design Advisory to foster the collecting of Japanese art in the United States. Otori was created for the purpose of bridging the gap between incredibly talented Japanese artists and the ever exciting American art world. We believe in platforming these artists who have dedicated their lives to their craft, and assisting them in their exposure to the American market. We hope to place their works in new and established collections and help build the next generation of Japanese contemporary artists in America.

Tristan has lived in Japan several times throughout his lifetime and has nurtured a lifelong interest in Japanese art and culture. He gained much of his experience working at various Japanese galleries, where he assisted with and curated several shows throughout Manhattan. Through Japanese language proficiency, years of experience and research, and a dedicated passion, he leads the curation and creative direction behind Otori Art & Design Advisory.
